How to undo a
bulk edit on Shopify.

Short answer

Shopify has no undo button for the bulk editor or for CSV imports. To reverse a bad bulk edit, re-import a product CSV exported before the change (only the columns you want to restore), or fix the affected products by hand. Without a backup, rebuild the old values from recent orders, the store activity log and each variant’s inventory adjustment history. Next time, export first or use an app that keeps the last known-good value.

If you have a backup CSV

  • 1. Stop further changes. Pause feed syncs and repricing apps so they don’t overwrite your fix.
  • 2. Trim the backup. Keep Handle plus only the columns you want to restore (for example Variant Price, Variant Compare At Price). Shopify overwrites every column included in the file, and blank cells overwrite existing values with blanks.
  • 3. Don’t touch option columns. Changing Option1–3 values deletes and recreates variant IDs, which breaks links, reviews and app data tied to the old IDs.
  • 4. Import with “Overwrite products with matching handles”. Imports can’t be cancelled once they start, so test with a file of two or three products first.
  • 5. Restore stock separately. Inventory is restored with the inventory CSV (Products → Inventory → Import), not the product CSV.

If you don’t have a backup

  • Prices: recent orders show the price customers paid before the edit. Your own feeds (Google Merchant Center, marketplaces) may still hold the old values for a short time.
  • Stock: open each variant → View adjustment history. It shows the last 180 days with the quantity before and after and who made the change.
  • Who did it: Settings → General → Store activity log names the staff member, app or channel for recent actions.

Before the next bulk edit

  • Export products (and inventory) first and keep the files with a date in the name.
  • Edit one product, check the storefront, then run the rest.
  • Use a change monitor that stores the last known-good price and stock, so a single click restores a variant without a CSV.

Common questions

Can I undo a CSV import on Shopify?

No. Shopify’s help center says imports can’t be cancelled once they begin and there is no history of past imports. You restore by importing a backup CSV or fixing products by hand.

Does the Shopify bulk editor have an undo?

No. Once saved, changes are live. Export your products before a large edit so you can restore from the file.

Is there an app that reverts bad price or stock changes?

CatchSync flags price and inventory changes past your thresholds within seconds and restores the last known-good value in one click. It only protects changes made after it is installed: Starter covers the whole store, Free includes one real revert a month.
